“A Better Future without Drug Abuse”

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

Good Morning.

The honorable judges and my beloved friends.

First of all, let’s pray and thank our God ALLAH SWT who has been giving us mercy and blessing so we can be here without any obstacles in this great occasion, our school anniversary event. It is such an honor for me to be participating in this speech competition, therefore today I would like to talk about “A better future without drug abuse”.

Ladies and gentleman,

Drug abuse is a leading cause of teen death or injury related to car crashes, suicides, violence, and drowning. Drug abuse or sometimes also called substance abuse is compulsive, excessive, and self-damaging use of drugs or substances, leading to addiction or dependence. Addiction here means that you will always want more, and can’t stop using it. It doesn’t matter even when you have no money to buy more drugs, your brain will not listen to you because this drugs you were using already change your brain. These brain changes can be long lasting and can lead you to many harmful, often self-destructive behaviors.

It is not all you can get from using drugs. It also gives rise to serious problems such as poor schoolwork, loss of friends, problems at home, and lasting legal problems. Even casual use of certain drugs can cause severe health problems, such as an overdose, kidneys failure and psychological harm like hallucinations, memory loss, or even worse than those, death. It is true; this drug can kill you and your future.

Therefore, another question comes up. Why there are so many teens using drugs?

From some research I’ve read, Teens may use a substance for many reasons. They may do it because they want to fit in with friends or certain group, a need to looking cool in front of their friends, and some teens only using drugs because it seems exciting. It is really pathetic, how they ruin their life and their future by using drug for such stupid reason.

That’s why I will ask all of you here; do you think it's worth it to trade your life, to destroy your entire future, and to let your parents down only for some drugs? You won’t have any chance to go to college, and the more important thing you won’t have a life to live anymore. It is all because of drug abuse.

So how do you prevent drug abuse as a teenager? There is a simple way to do that. And that is to keep your life busy with meaningful activities, such as sports, Islamic organization, language and music class, and so on. Make friends with people who like you for who you are, and not with the people who change you for worst. Let’s fight together for a better future without drug abuse!

DEFINISI Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) adalah terdapatnya hubungan antara atrium kanan dengan atrium kiri yang tidak ditutup oleh katup ( Markum, 1991). ASD adalah defek pada sekat yang memisahkan atrium kiri dan kanan. (Sudigdo Sastroasmoro, 1994). ASD adalah penyakit jantung bawaan berupa lubang (defek) pada septum interatrial (sekat antar serambi) yang terjadi karena kegagalan fungsi septum interatrial semasa janin. Defek Septum Atrium (ASD, Atrial Septal Defect) adalah suatu lubang pada dinding (septum) yang memisahkan jantung bagian atas (atrium kiri dan atrium kanan). Kelainan jantung ini mirip seperti VSD, tetapi letak kebocoran di septum antara serambi kiri dan kanan. Kelainan ini menimbulkan keluhan yang lebih ringan dibanding VSD.
